“We have lost a great friend”. This was expressed by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on behalf of the people and the Government of the Island, in condolences for the recent death of the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, and his companions, in a plane crash.
The president went to the residence of the Iranian ambassador to Cuba, Seyed Mohammad Hadi Sobbani, on Saturday 25, and among the expressions of condolences, he wrote: “We know that you will find the strength to defend the great dreams of peace and national, regional and international prosperity, to which President Raisi dedicated his life. His legacy and sense of sacrifice in the service of his people will last forever”.
The Cuban Head of State expressed that he will always remember the sincere friendship shared with Raisi in fruitful meetings, in which they mutually expressed their common interest in advancing the development of both nations and confronting injustice.
The Persian Ambassador thanked the President for the gesture that the main Cuban authorities came directly to express their condolences, in addition to decreeing Official Mourning.
“Despite the fact that we have lost two great personalities, two great friends of Cuba who supported the consolidation of relations between the two countries, I can assure you that the policies of our country with respect to Cuba are immovable, they will not change,” said the diplomat, quoted by the website of the Presidency of the Republic.
