Food production and crime control on the agenda of the 8th Plenary Session of the Party’s Central Committee

Granma, June 24, 2024 —

Convinced that the agenda of the Communist Party of Cuba has to be increasingly closer to the public agenda of the country, the 8th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the organization, which will be held on July 5 and 6, will devote part of its analysis to sustainable food production, one of the major concerns of our population.
It will also include issues related to the prevention and confrontation of corruption, crime, illegalities and social indiscipline, phenomena that threaten the social welfare and the sacred conquests of our people, and that demand a battle that requires the conscious participation of all.
As has been explained, these fronts are impacted by the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba and, therefore, its consequences weigh on the prosperity of our population. These are matters that more than once the country’s leadership has described as matters of national security, since their stability offers guarantees for the gradual recovery of national life.
At the Plenum, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee will also render an account of its management in the period since the previous meeting, as a demonstration of its adherence to the principles of democracy and transparency that characterize our revolutionary process and the party organization as the vanguard of society.
