Doom Trump’s quest for world domination!

G.A. Zyuganov, Sovetskaya Rossiya, January 8, 2026 —
Address by the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
From the very first days of the new year, 2026, President Trump abruptly cast aside his peacemaker façade and revealed that his true goals are blackmail and global domination. At the same time, he has proven himself a far more aggressive ruler of the United States than his predecessor, Biden, whom Trump has unrestrainedly criticized precisely for his foreign policy adventures.
Following the attack on Venezuela and the unprecedented kidnapping of its president, Nicolás Maduro, Trump, emboldened by the apparent ease of his “victory,” declared all of Latin America his own. He declared a ban on European and Asian countries from engaging in any independent activity on the continent. He simultaneously warned that Mexico, Cuba, and Colombia could be the next victims of the aggression.
Mr. Trump clearly has no intention of stopping at Latin America. In Asia, he has already acted as the main accomplice to Israel’s attack on Iran. In Africa, he authorized US air strikes in Nigeria, intervening in a long-running dispute between Muslim herders and Christian farmers. In Europe, even staunch US allies were stunned and panicked by Trump’s plan to seize Greenland from Denmark. In every war of the last 75 years, beginning with the Korean War, American hawks have sought to rely on as many allies as possible. But Trump has become so confident in his own omnipotence that he not only refuses European assistance but treats them with open contempt. Now, if Denmark persists on the Greenland issue, the world will no longer be surprised to see its prime minister captured by Delta Force simultaneously with the bombing of Copenhagen.
Today, we’re no longer talking about violating international law. What’s happening is a deliberate, total destruction of the entire system of interstate relations that has been built over centuries. Trump is attempting to replace the generally accepted norms agreed upon within the UN with the rule of the strongest and most arrogant. This is a challenge to all of humanity.
There have been precedents in world history. In the early 19th century, the French Emperor Napoleon declared himself master of Europe, and then of the entire world. In the mid-20th century, the German Fuhrer, Hitler, having conquered Europe, claimed dominion over all continents. And so, in the 21st century, a new “master of the world” has emerged in North America. The first two cases, as is well known, ended very badly for the aspirants to global domination. There is no reason why Trump, like his European predecessors, won’t break his neck trying to conquer the entire world.
Donald Trump has imagined himself a superman, capable of returning Latin America to the US backyard it was 200 years ago. He intends to deprive dozens of countries on this continent of their freedom and independence. But the peoples of Latin America have already proven their willingness and ability to firmly defend their interests in numerous victorious battles against American imperialism. The death of Che Guevara in Bolivia in 1967 did not halt revolutionary processes on the continent. Brilliant examples of this have been provided by outstanding fighters against imperialism, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez. Time after time, progressive forces have come to power in the leading countries of Latin America. The continent’s largest country, Brazil, is led by the socialist president Lula da Silva.
In Venezuela’s drama, its people and courageous, legitimate leadership will have the final say. Despite Trump’s absurd claims that US Secretary of State Rubio will now govern the country, Venezuela has already declared that it will not submit to a dictate. Threats from Washington are unlikely to frighten a people who cherish their independence.
A treacherous strike using 150 air and space weapons and a bandit raid on the presidential residence are one thing. A ground operation in the mountains and jungles of Venezuela is quite another. The US military is adept at attacking a clearly weaker adversary and then declaring historic victories. When they encounter stiff resistance, however, it quickly becomes clear that they are far from the best fighters. We all witnessed this recently in Afghanistan and Iraq.
As for Trump’s accusations of drug trafficking against Nicolás Maduro, they are astoundingly cynical and hypocritical. Like no other country in the world, the United States has contributed to the rise of drug addiction as a global scourge. It was through their efforts in the 1960s and 1970s, during the Vietnam War, that opium production in the Golden Triangle was expanded to an unprecedented level. It was carried out along the borders of Thailand, Burma, and Laos to finance covert CIA operations. After occupying Afghanistan in 2001, the United States vigorously revived heroin production there, supplying it to Europe through its bases in Albania.
In Latin America, anti-communist Colombia once became the main cocaine producer. Numerous documents and journalistic investigations point to close ties between the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Colombian drug lords. The CIA used drug trafficking revenues, among other things, to finance operations to overthrow the leftist government of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua. The United States itself is one of the largest marijuana producers in the world. So it’s not up to them to indict Venezuela’s legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro! Instead, the entire world should indict Washington for drugging humanity.
Trump’s blatantly criminal attempt to blackmail the people of Venezuela by kidnapping its president is doomed to failure. No US court has the slightest right to try the head of a sovereign state. What the Trump administration has done is a kidnapping by a group of criminals acting in concert. The court should not try Maduro and his wife, but the organizers and perpetrators of this atrocity, including Mr. Trump himself.
Of course, the White House, with the tenacity of a mad bulldog, will hold Nicolás Maduro hostage. But the people’s president of Venezuela has already become a symbol of resistance to imperialism. Nelson Mandela was precisely the same global symbol of resistance to the apartheid regime in South Africa.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation believes that Nicolás Maduro is the world’s worst political prisoner today. This cannot leave honest and courageous people indifferent. We call on all popular, patriotic, and anti-fascist forces to join forces to free the Venezuelan president.
Imperialist circles are attempting to launch a strategic offensive. To curb them, a broad social movement must be launched worldwide. We call on parties and associations, and all progressive forces, to conduct meaningful consultations and develop concrete measures to actively counter reaction. In this difficult situation, workers and their organizations must have their say. Today, united action in defense of peace, security, and justice is especially important.
Trump’s problems don’t end with the criminal kidnapping of President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, but rather are just beginning. In recent years, the global balance of power has shifted significantly. The BRICS and SCO countries, the states of the Global South, of which Latin America is a crucial part, are asserting their authority ever more forcefully. Russia’s military might and China’s economic might are capable of completely devaluing Washington’s claims to global dominance. We call on all nations around the world that value their sovereign development to resolutely condemn Washington’s actions.
It’s crystal clear that global capital is capable of any adventure. The international situation is becoming increasingly volatile. To adequately face new challenges and ensure national unity, Russia must change its socio-economic and socio-political course. That’s why, in its Victory Program, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation proposes a path for accelerated development and the achievement of social justice.
Trump’s frantic attempts to hold back human progress on a single continent, along with his piratical escapades at sea, are doomed to failure. Every war unleashed by the US in recent decades has ended in ignominious defeat. So it must be this time too!
No imperialist expansion!
Yes, to unity in the fight against aggression and international banditry!
G.A. ZYUGANOV,
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation faction in the State Duma.
